Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the combination of your main product with ancillary texts?

After production had finished on the development of the music video and editing had been finalized, the the next task was to research existing album covers and magazine advertisments of bands within our genre which is folk. Mumford & sons was the biggest influence in the research process and within their album artwork they conveyed many connatations/conventions of the folk music genre and the album was true to the genre in regards to it's representation of these connatations.

Mumford & Sons Album cover as shown below.
Then it was my job to create my own digipak which also like mumford & sons has to reinforce connatations/conventions of the genre but also enhance the overall project (appropriately link with the music video). I believe that the digipak I created and also the advertisment I created do infact enhance the music video, this is because they strongly link, such as; the advertisment is of the two protagonists seen in the music video so there already is a connection between the two and sets up the ground of familiarity which then is carried on throughout the digipak, the whole thing (the music video, the advertisment and the digipak) is viewed as a jigsaw puzzle and that they all link and put together a long running story subjective to each person.

In conclusion the ancillary texts did in fact enhance the main product (Music Video) and proved to be quite effective as a combination as shown through the connatations/conventions inherit in all aspects of the project.
